Have you ever read up on articles about the purpose of human life, why are we all here? what is our goal? what is our purpose in life? And many of these articles say about happiness, being useful to others, give something to this world, so that people in the future will remember you. And we intent to believe that that is the ultimate goal of our life, to be happy and to be useful to others. Aristoteles once said, Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim, and end of human existence.”

In the search of Happiness, people define it by many other ways that were created either by society nor by themselves. Nowadays, when we have all of the material things in the world or that we won’t need to worry concerning financial problems, that’s when you have success a.k.a happiness. But, in this case, it’s actually wrong because of human nature itself that never satisfies, or the fact that you have to be useful to others and being loved by others, “The purpose of life is not to be happy, it is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well”, Ralph Waldo Emerson who was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.

But, even if you live with these ideologies across the world, you would never feel complete or you have lived well as you be happy and be useful to others. These goals were simply false and the reason is that it’s always centered on “Me”. What do I want to become? How should I be happy? Should I do that?

In order to really know what is our purpose in life, we have to look back and find out why are we here, in this time and era, with this family, in this specific place? Why God creates us? Why God placed us on this earth?

I invite you to grab your bible and open Colossians 1:16, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” In this verse, we can see that Paul refers to Jesus, the creator of all things because in him/ in Jesus all things were created, things that you see and that you don’t see, things that you don’t even know ever exist, on earth and in heaven, visible and invisible, ALL THINGS. And the amazing fact is that these “all things” were created through Jesus and for Jesus. Everything was made to Jesus, you, me, we were all created in Jesus, through him, and for him alone.

You can’t reach your ultimate goal of life if you don’t start with God, your creator. Many people who think about themselves tend to use God like a vending machine, you use God to reach your own purposes, that’s why there’s a lot of people who were disappointed and abandoned God when they don’t reach their expectation even though they prayed a lot for it. And that’s the problem, you think about yourselves to the point where it blinds you to truly see what God wants in your life.

You were here right now, based on God’s willingness to create you. He creates you and he has a plan for you, he knows your beginning and your end even when you weren’t born. You were here not because of your parents’ fault, but because God allows it. He knows every single inch of you, your history, your thinking, your strengths and weaknesses and he loves you so much because you are his creation.

When we began to think about God and make Him our everything, that’s the point where we will know what is our purpose in this world.

Revelation 4:11, “It is right, our Lord and our God, for you to have glory and honor and power: because by you were all things made, and by your desire they came into being.”

Psalm 149:4a, “For the Lord takes delight in his people.”

Through these verses, the author of the bible wants us to understand that we are here to please God, God creates you to praise him with all of your hearts, with all the talents that he gave to you, He puts you here so you can glorify him just like all things that were created. To make him smile, that is the ultimate goal of humanity, the biggest achievement a human can have is when he can have an intimate relationship and please God by trusting him with all of our hearts and obey his commands.
